Clinton, SC - The Wagner College softball team capped its opening weekend with a 9-4 victory over Cleveland State on Sunday morning.
With the win, the Seahawks finish the weekend with a 2-3 record after earning a win over Wright State in their season-opener.

Kyleigh Norris led the way with four RBIs, including a three-run home run to left field in the first inning.

Kaila Smith continued her tremendous start to the season with an RBI double that scored freshman
Bianca Worthy, sophomore
Natalie Del Ponte drew a walk that set Norris up with runners on first and second. The senior made the most out of the opportunity, launching her first home run of the season to make it 4-0 early on.
The Vikings scored a run in the bottom half of the first, but Wagner answered with another big inning in the third. After singles by Worthy and senior
Christina Harkins and a walk by Smith, Norris showed patience at the plate two batters later, drawing another walk to bring home Wagner's fifth run of the game.
Next up, senior
Hannah Lewis came through with an RBI double to right, scoring Del Ponte and Smith to make it 7-1 Seahawks.
Cleveland State scored one run apiece in the third, fourth, and fifth, but an RBI double by Harkins in the sixth and an RBI single by sophomore
Penelope Russ in the seventh gave the Seahawks a 9-4 advantage.
Sophomore
Eve Harvey earned the complete game victory to move to 2-0 on the season, allowing four runs on eight hits while striking out two.
Next up, the Seahawks will travel to Virginia to play in the Norfolk State Tournament, starting on Friday, March 6.
