Norfolk, VA -
The Wagner College baseball team rallied from a two-run deficit in taking a 3-2 after five innings but Norfolk State scored five times in the bottom of the sixth in posting a 7-3 victory in the series finale on Sunday afternoon.

Freshman Cody Bey led the way for the Seahawks at the plate, going 2 for 3 with a run scored and drove in his first career RBI. Senior Freddy Sabido and newcomer AJ Medrano also drove in runs for the visitors.

Senior right-hander McCae Allen took the ball this afternoon, allowing two runs on four hits in 4.1 innings of work while striking out five and walking three. Freshman Nick DeCarlo was tagged with the loss after pitching 1.1 innings in relief of Allen, giving up five runs on three hits.

Ty Hanchey led the way for Norfolk State, going 2 for 2 with two runs scored and driving in a pair for the Spartans. Alsander Womack and Adam Collins also drove in two RBIs while Caleb Ward and Danny Hosley produced multi-hit games, joining Hanchey with two hits.

NSU's starter, Justin Walton allowed three runs (one earned) over five innings of work in which he walked one and struck out five batters. Josue Cumba picked up the win after pitching 2.2 scoreless frames in which he gave up a hit and struck out four of the eight batters he faced.

Both teams were held scoreless after the first two innings before Norfolk State went ahead 2-0. Back-to-back walks from Allen and a wild pitch allowed both Collins and Hanchey to move into scoring position.

Allen was able to strike out Brandon Crosby for the first out of the inning before Womack rolled one to short, which allowed Collins to trot home for the first run of the game. Ward came up next and delivered a double down the left field line that plated home the second run.

The Seahawks cracked through in their half of the fourth. With one out, Sabdio ripped a single to center field that allowed Bey to score from second in cutting the Norfolk State lead in half, 2-1.

Wagner's momentum carried over an inning later, as the Seahawks scored twice in taking the lead, 3-2. Henry Martinez reached on a throwing error by the NSU second baseman before junior Mike Ruggiero ripped a single back up-the-middle. Martinez moved to third following a throwing error from the Spartans catcher.

With the count in his favor, Medrano roped a single to left center, scoring Martinez, which tied the game at 2-2. A batter later, Bey laced one to left field, bringing Medrano from second as the Seahawks took a 3-2 lead.

Norfolk State batted around in the bottom of the sixth scoring five times on four hits as Collins and Hanchey each delivered a pair of two-run singles that gave the lead back to Norfolk State and ultimately winning by the same score.
