The MLK Agent of Change Award is presented to an agent of change within the Wagner community who embodies Dr. King's vision of servant leadership and understands that "Faith is taking the first step even when you don't see the whole staircase."

"It is an honor to receive this award," commented Anand. "It allows me to reflect on the work I have been doing and its impact. I give all the credit to my mentors at Wagner, the Northeast Conference (NEC), the NCAA, and most importantly, my friends and family for giving me the platform to succeed while supporting me in achieving the change I have envisioned."

In addition to Anand being the student recipient of the award, she was joined by Dr. Joshua Mullenite from the Department of Culture and Economics, who was the faculty selection while Olatunde Ogunlana, '10 & M'11, was the alumnus choice.

The keynote speaker for the event was Debbie-Ann Paige, a public historian specializing in local African American history and is co-president of the newly-created Richard B. Dickenson Staten Island Chapter of the Afro-American Historical and Genealogical Society (AAHGS) and professional genealogist.

Anand was one of eight women recently featured by the Women's Sports Foundation (WSF) on their website as part of its 34th Annual National Girls & Women In Sports Day (NGWSD) back on February 5.

A three-time NEC Academic Honor Roll selection who earned Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Scholar-Athlete honors in 2019, Anand is a voice for her fellow student-athletes as, this past July, she was inducted into the NCAA Association Wide Sportsmanship and Ethical Committee and NCAA Division I Student-Athlete Experience Committee.

Additionally, she is serving her second term on the NCAA Division I Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) and is co-chair of the NEC Student-Athlete Advisory Committee.
