Women’s Soccer Signs Seven To National Letters Of Intent

Staten Island, NY – Wagner head women's soccer coach Phil Casella has announced that seven student-athletes have signed National Letters of Intent to continue their academic and athletics careers on Grymes Hill, beginning in the fall of 2021.

The signing class consists of Samantha Hughes (Pottstown, PA), Madison Intrater (Old Bethpage, NY), Kayla Klosen (Fishkill, NY), Kylie Mcnally (Pearl River, NY), Emma Roe (Athens, PA), Olivia Rubbo (Holbrook, NY), and Isabella Wysockii (Rahway, NJ).

Coach Casella on Hughes: "Comes to us from FC Providence. I saw Sam in February 2020 and I said to myself there is a Goalkeeper that has ability. She has good size, good hands, very quick, good off her line, good shot stopping ability and is good in the air in a crowd. She is also a Hockey player. She is going to help make our GK position a better one. We are looking forward to Sam's arrival."

She is also very technical and has great instinct on when to get forward into the attack and deliver the ball into dangerous areas. We are looking for that addition in our style. We are looking forward to Maddie's arrival."

Coach Casella on Klosen: "Comes to us from FC Nirvana. Kayla is a great physical athlete. She has had experience as a Midfielder but more importantly as a target forward. The way we look to play suits her perfectly as we look for our forwards to hold the ball up top and combine. Kayla gives us that added assistance as well as has great passing range as she drops down to be involved and get on the ball. We are looking forward to Kayla's arrival."

Very good passing range, great on free kicks and is a hard nose player that is good in the air in the center of the park. We are looking forward to Kylie's arrival."

Coach Casella on Rubbo: "Also comes to us from SUSA ECNL and also plays for Ronnie Alber. Olivia is going to add more talent to our midfield and forward areas. She is a player who is very good 1v1 and we will look to have her isolated often. Has great skill on the ball and is very confident when she has it. She can also play centrally but more importantly, give us wide play in those areas. We are looking forward to Olivia's arrival."
