Princeton, NJ – The Wagner men's water polo team opened their busy weekend dropping a pair of games on Saturday to No. 14 Princeton, by a score of 9-3, and a hard-fought game against Navy, by a count of 12-10 in the afternoon finale.

The Seahawks will wrap up their weekend on Sunday with a pair of matchups, going up against Fordham at 9:15 a.m. and No. 13 Bucknell at 2:15 p.m. in Lewisburg, PA.

No. 14 Princeton 9, Wagner 3
The Green & White, who battled the Tigers defensively throughout, failed to find their offensive rhythm. Freshman Shaked Yacoby gave the Seahawks an early 1-0 lead, but Princeton would respond, ending the first quarter tied 1-1.

The second quarter began with three consecutive tallies for the Tigers, and added one more to take a four-goal lead, 5-1. Freshman Olivr Fodor converted on a six-on-five to end the first half as the Seahawks trailed, 5-2.

The second-half continued to be a defensive battle between the two teams. Yacoby added one more goal for Wagner, while Princeton would tally four more for a final score of 9-3.

Navy 12, Wagner 10
After a tough loss in their morning match, the Seahawks looked to rebound against the Navy Midshipmen in their first Mid-Atlantic Water Polo Conference (MAWPC) game of the season.

Senior captain Lachlan Trabinger got the Green & White on the board in the first stanza, but a trio of goals by the Midshipmen gave Navy a 3-1 edge to end the quarter.

The second quarter would be the exact opposite of the first, Navy would notch one goal, while Wagner would record three to tie the game at 4-4 heading into the half.

Fodor recorded two goals, while senior Aaron Leighton added the third for the Seahawks.

The second half would continue as a back and forth affair. Navy would record the first two goals before sophomore utility Vuk Bulajic responded to cut the Midshipmen lead to 6-5. Wagner would concede another two goals until Fodor responded with two goals of his own, completing his hat-trick to get the Green & White to seven goals on the day, making the score 8-7 in favor of Navy heading into the fourth quarter.

In the final period, Trabinger would notch his second goal of the day to tie the game at eight apiece. Navy would respond with three straight scores and put the game out of reach for the Seahawks. Fodor would add another two goals in the quarter, getting his total up to six for the day, but Wagner would fall by a final score of 12-10.

The Seahawks will be back in the pool tomorrow morning going up against Fordham at 9:15 a.m. and again at 2:30 p.m. facing off against No. 13 Bucknell.
