No. 18 Seahawks Continue MAAC Play In Brooklyn; MAAC Championship Tickets Now On Sale

Staten Island, NY – The No. 18 Wagner women's water polo team continues Metro-Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) league play against Marist, St. Francis Brooklyn and Iona this weekend in Brooklyn, NY.

Last time out, the 21-8; 6-0 Green & White fell to the Princeton Tigers in DeNunzio Pool with a final count of 11-10. Despite the loss, freshman Sofia Diaz Alvarez scored five out of the Seahawks 10 goals and also grabbed four steals and registered one field block. Senior Erica Hardy added seven points on three goals and four assists, while senior Kristy Donkin dished out two assists of her own. Sophomore Malia Josephson also scored two goals and tallied one assist.

To kick off the weekend, Wagner will take on No. 21 Marist (15-12; 6-1) on Saturday morning, April 6, at 9:00 a.m. Later on in the day, the Seahawks will compete against host St. Francis Brooklyn (4-17: 1-6) at 3:00 p.m. On Sunday, the Green & White will play Iona (10-14; 4-3) at 10:30 a.m.

Tickets for the 2019 MAAC Water Polo Championship are now on sale, as Marist College and the McCann Natatorium will serve as hosts for the 17th straight year.
 
Ticket prices for each day are $10 dollars for adults and $5 for students, children, and seniors and can be purchased at maacsports.com/tickets or at McCann Natatorium on both days of competition.
 
The championship will be held on April 27 and 28 in Poughkeepsie, New York. Play on both days starts at 12:00 p.m. with the championship game will be on April 28 at 2:00 p.m.
 
The Seahawks won their fifth straight MAAC Championship last season by beating Marist College 10-7. The Green & White have now won eight MAAC Titles, which is the most in league history. Kimberly Watson, a senior in 2018, took home MVP honors last year.
