New York, NY – The Wagner College softball team jumped out to an early 1-0 lead and tied the contest at 2-2 in the second inning on a home run by junior
Kaila Smith, but it wasn't enough as the Seahawks dropped a 10-2 decision at Columbia on Wednesday afternoon.
With the single-game loss, Wagner falls to 13-27 on the season, while the Lions of the Ivy League improve to 20-17 this year.
Wagner took the lead in the first inning, as senior
Karen Prihoda singled to lead off the game, stole second base, and came home on a Columbia error.
Trailing 2-1 in the top of the second inning, Smith launched her team-leading eighth home run of the season, a solo shot to center field that tied the game at two apiece.
Columbia scored eight straight runs throughout the next five innings to earn its 20
th victory of the season, as senior
Ciera Luna was charged with the loss.

Jessica Carlucci, and
Zoe Bender all had hits for Wagner during the contest.
The Seahawks will conclude the regular season this weekend with a pair of Northeast Conference (NEC) doubleheaders against Fairleigh Dickinson and Central Connecticut.
Sunday's matchup against the Blue Devils will also mark Senior Day, where Wagner will honor seniors
