Smithfield, RI – After seeing its program-record eight-game winning streak come to an end in an 11-9 loss at Mount St. Mary's last Sunday, the Wagner women's lacrosse team continues Northeast Conference (NEC) play with a 7:00 p.m. game on Thursday at Bryant, followed by 1:00 p.m. first draw at Central Connecticut on Saturday.
The loss at the Mount, which improved to 3-0 with the win, came in spite of a six-goal, one-assist performance from sophomore midfielder
Madeline Seims who, for her efforts, was named an #NECPrimerPerformer. The Seahawks now stand at 9-3 on the season and are 2-1 in NEC play.
This year's Bryant team marks the second straight undefeated NEC foe on the docket for Wagner as the Bulldogs enters Thursday's play at 7-5 overall but, more importantly, 3-0 in league play.
In Bryant, the Seahawks will be facing a more than familiar foe. In addition to their one annual regular season meeting, these teams have faced one another in each of the last five NEC Championship games, all played at Bryant, with Wagner taking home league title in 2016 and 2018.
Without question, the most memorable meeting between the Seahawks and the Bulldogs during this stretch came in l
ast season's NEC championship game on May 5, 2018, when Wagner pulled out a thrilling 12-11 double-overtime win to make it two NCAA Tournament appearances in the last three years for the Green & White.
