Lexington, VA – The No. 16 Wagner women's water polo team defeated two Mid-Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) opponents in St. Francis Brooklyn (22-5) and Iona (23-4) on Saturday, advancing its win-streak to seven.
Wagner 22, St. Francis Brooklyn 5:
The Terriers were the first to find the back of the net in taking a 1-0 lead at the start of the first period. Freshman
Sofia Diaz Alvarez then scored back to back goals to take a 2-1 lead.

Erica Hardy added one and two goals, respectively. Junior
Jacqui Sjogren and Diaz Alvarez scored one more apiece, making the score 6-3 at the end of the first quarter.
The Seahawks held the Terriers scoreless in both the second and third stanzas, taking an 18-3 lead as they head into the final eight minutes of play. SFC added two final goals in the fourth period.
Eight members of the Green & White scored in the victory, led by Sjogren who tallied five goals. Hardy scored four followed by Diaz Alvarez, sophomore
Daisy Nankervis and sophomore
Savannah Henshaw, who each notched a hat trick, respectively.
Defensively, sophomore
Katherine Campbell blocked six shots and grabbed one steal in the 22-5 victory over the Terriers.
Wagner 23, Iona 4:
In the second and final matchup of the weekend, Hardy led the offense with five goals, followed by three Seahawks tallying four goals each in Diaz Alvarez, Donkin and sophomore
Malia Josephson.
Sjogren, who led offensively in the first game of the day, finding the back of the net five times against the Terriers, notched three goals against the Gaels. Henshaw scored twice and senior
Abby Irving scored once.
On the defensive side of the ball, Sjogren grabbed six steals. Campbell made six saves and grabbed two steals, while also dishing out one assist in the 23-4 victory over Iona.
Wagner (14-5 ; 2-0 MAAC) will be back in action in Los Angeles, CA for the LMU Invite on March 15-16.
