Elon, NC – The Wagner College baseball team dropped the series finale to Elon, 16-6, on Sunday afternoon from Latham Park. With the loss, the Seahawks fall to 1-8 on the year while the Phoenix improve to 7-4.

Griffin Schneider each drove in two RBis for the visitors on Sunday morning. Senior SS
Anthony Pecora, who hit the go-ahead solo home run in the night cap of Saturday's doubleheader that led Wagner to a 7-6 win, also drove in a RBI. Junior designated hitter,
Dario Anderson, continued his torrid hitting, as he drove in his sixth RBI of the weekend while finishing 1-for-3 at the dish.

Justin Beyer (0-2), who made his first start for the Green & White today, went 2.2 innings while giving up eight runs (three earned) on four hits in taking the loss. Beyer struck out three and walked three in his outing.
The top four Elon batters combined to go 6-for-13 with seven runs scored and collectively drove in 11 RBIs led by Joe Satterfield, who went 2-for-3 with five RBIs and two runs scored. Jack Roberts picked up the win for the Phoenix.
Wagner found themselves trailing 5-0 after two innings before getting on the board in the top of the third. Sophomore 2B
Mike Ruggiero kicked off the top of the third by reaching base on a fielding error by Elon's starter, Mason Roberts, and moved to second on Roberts' second error on the play. With one out, Pecora brought in Ruggiero on a RBI grounder to short.
The Phoenix tacked on three more scores in the bottom of the third in extending its lead to 8-1. The Seahawks plated across two in the fourth in cutting the Phoenix lead to 8-3 as senior CF
Joe Silvestrone lead off with a double down the left field line and moved to third on a wild pitch.

Tyler Sanfillippo loaded the bases for Anderson. The Clayton, DE native put the ball in play by sending a grounder up the first base line that allowed the runners to move up and Silvestrone to score. The next Seahawk batter, Hall, reached on a fielder's choice that brought in Johnson for the second run of the frame.
In the bottom of the fourth, Elon added three more, two of which coming from Anthony Hennings' two-run, RBI triple down the right field line before he came into score on a RBI ground out from Tyler Stanley that increased the lead to 11-3.
Following a scoreless fifth, the Green & White scored twice to make it 11-5 as Schneider recorded his first hit in a Wagner uniform while recording his first two RBIs as he doubled down the left field line to score Hall and Sanfillippo.
The Phoenix added five runs in the bottom of the eighth, two of which coming on Satterfield's two-run double to left center that bumped the score to 16-5. The visitors plated the final run of the game as Hall drew a bases loaded walk that brought in Silvestrone.
Wagner will now head to Charlottesville, VA to tangle with ACC member, the University of Virginia Cavaliers, beginning on Monday, March 4.
