Bloomington, IN – The No. 15 Wagner women's water polo team edged out No. 23 Cal State Northridge 11-10 before defeating No. 20 Indiana 11-2 to conclude day one of the Indiana Invitational.
No. 15 Wagner 11, No. 23 CSUN 10:
The Seahawks led the Matadors at the end of the first quarter with a score of 3-2 after a hat trick by senior
Erica Hardy. Sophomore
Malia Josephson won the opening sprint to kickoff the second period of play, however, the second stanza included zero goals from Wagner and just one from CSUN to tie the match at three goals apiece.

Daisy Nankervis opened the second half with a sprint win as junior
Jacqui Sjogren earned an exclusion for a quick goal. Hardy notched her fourth goal of the game after Nankervis earned a penalty, which the Green & White capitalized on.
Five more Seahawk goals from Hardy (1), freshman Philippa Nash (1), Sjogren (2) and freshman
Sofia Diaz Alvarez (1) as well as four goals from CSUN gave Wagner a 10-7 lead to enter the fourth and final period of play.

Kristy Donkin found the back of the net for the final Green & White goal to put Wagner up 11-7. The Matadors fought back, adding three goals of their own but came up short as the Seahawks edged CSUN with a final score of 11-10.

The Seahawks led the Hoosiers the entire game, kicking off the first period with a 3-0 lead on goals from Diaz Alvarez, Donkin and sophomore
Savannah Henshaw.
Indiana scored its first goal of the game with 2:58 left in the second quarter. Wagner then scored six straight goals from Hardy (2), Nankervis (1), Sjogren (1), Diaz Alvarez (1) and Henshaw (1).
The Hoosiers scored their final goal of the game as Henshaw added back to back goals to take the win with a final score of 11-2.
The Green & White will wrap up the weekend on Sunday against Mercyhurst at 10:40 a.m. before the final game against Salem International at 3:10 p.m. The remaining two games on Sunday, March 3 will have live stats available to follow along.
