Colorado Rapids, CO – The Wagner College softball team concluded the Colorado State Classic with an 8-0 loss to host Colorado State on Sunday in a game that was originally scheduled to be played Friday afternoon but was postponed due to inclement weather.
The Seahawks will return to the East Coast and play their first games of the season in New York State as part of the St. John's Classic, beginning on March 15.
With today's loss, Wagner moves to 3-9 on the year, while the Rams, who compete in the Mountain West Conference, improve to 16-4.
The Green and White's biggest scoring threat came in the third inning, as back-to-back singles by seniors
Lauren Serrato and
Karen Prihoda set the Seahawks up with two runners on with two outs, but the offense was unable to capitalize.
The Rams scored two runs apiece in the second, third, fourth, and fifth to earn the victory, while junior
Amelia Van Orman was charged with the loss in the pitching circle.
Prihoda and Serrato were the only Seahawks to reach base safely on the day.
Offensively, Colorado State was led by Isabella Navarro's three RBIs and Haley Donaldson's RBIs.
