Staten Island, NY – The postseason accolades continue for senior outside linebacker
Cam Gill, as he was named a STATS FCS First Team All-American on Thursday.
The award comes on the heels of Gill's selection as a Hero Sports FCS Second Team All-American on Monday, Associated Press Third Team selection on Tuesday, and All-ECAC First Team on Wednesday.
For Gill, it marks the second consecutive season he has been on the prestigious AP Third Team, while improving from his previous selection as a STATS Second Team All-American in 2018.
Gill finished his collegiate career as the Northeast Conference's (NEC) all-time sack leader and repeated as the league's Defensive Player of the Year.
Gill is the lone NEC player on the STATS FCS First Team, while four other players from the conference were selected to the Third Team. The senior is also one of just two NEC players on the AP Third Team and HERO Sports Second Team.
One of Wagner's most decorated players of all time, Gill also accepted his invitation to compete in the NFLPA Collegiate Bowl at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, CA on January 18, 2020, while finishing as a finalist for the FCS' Buck Buchanan Award, the top defensive player in the country.
Gill became the fifth player in NEC history to repeat as the league's top defensive player and finishes his collegiate career as the conference's all-time sack leader with 34 career sacks. This season, the dynamic outside linebacker led the league with 9.5 sacks while accumulating 20 tackles for loss and 60 overall stops in 12 games.
The Douglasville, GA native was also a preseason All-America selection by Hero Sports and was named the ECAC's Defensive Player of the year, Associated Press Third-Team All-American and Stats FCS Second Team All-American in 2018.
In repeating as an All-American, Gill becomes the first Wagner player since
Phil Faccone (2013, 2014) to repeat as an All-America selection and first defensive player since Al Philips in 2005 and 2006.
