Final Score Sheet
CWPA Release
Lewisburg, PA – The Wagner men's water polo team (6-23) fell to Navy in the quarterfinal round of the Mid-Atlantic Water Polo Conference (MAWPC) Championships on Friday afternoon by a final score of 16-12 and will now face No. 8 seed La Salle on Saturday at 1:30 pm in the consolation bracket.
The Green & White made great use of the man advantage in the game, scoring on six of 12 opportunities, however a 6-3 scoring differential in the second quarter for the Midshipmen would prove to be too large to overcome.
The Seahawks took a 3-2 lead into the second quarter but would enter the halftime break trailing 8-6 and were never able to regain the lead or tie the game again. They would reduce the lead to a lone goal midway through the third period when
Olivér Fodor found the cage for the fifth time in the game, however, Navy would answer back with three unanswered goals to close the door.
Overall, Wagner was led by Fodor and his game-high six-goal performance. Joining him on the score sheet for the Seahawks were
Lachlan Trabinger, who recorded a hat trick,
Vuk Bulajic, who notched a brace, and
Karl Lovett, who recorded the lone Seahawk goal in the final stanza.
The Midshipmen were led by man of the match Isaac Salinas who tallied four goals in the game. He was accompanied by four other multi-goal scoring Navy swimmers who each recorded two goals apiece, Jake Altmeyer, Nate Reiff, Cole Jacobs, and Will Clark. Merle Richman, Kevin Volkov, Bobby Lee, and Jack Weggeland each added a single goal for the Navy as well.
WHAT'S NEXT FOR WAGNER
