La Verne, CA – The Wagner men's water polo team wrapped up the Gary Troyer Tournament by suffering a pair of losses on Saturday, dropping a hard-fought 9-7 decision to Chapman University, before falling by a 17-9 count to No. 9 UC-San Diego in the tournament finale.

The Seahawks mounted a comeback after being down by four goals by the Panthers in the opening portion of the contest.
Karl Lovett scored his first goal as a Seahawk to get Wagner on the board. Chapman tallied another goal to get the lead to 5-1, but the Green & White, with goals by
Olivér Fodor,
Jordi Alonso,
Vuk Bulajic, and
Matthew Miller, tied the match at five apiece in the early stages of the second half.
Chapman quickly responded with two more goals for before Fodor converted a 5-meter penalty shot to trim the deficit to one. The Seahawks, however, failed to score another goal and eventually fell by the score of 9-7
No. 9 UC-San Diego 17, Wagner 9
After a disappointing loss in their early match, the Green & White were looking to bounce back against No. 9 UC-San Diego. The Tritons played a well-balanced game, spreading the ball all over the pool. Four players on the Tritons netted hat tricks, including Calder Hilde-Jones, Connor McGanigal, and Cooper Milton, while Skyler Munatones led the entire team with four goals.
Wagner found the back of the net on goals from Bulajic, Fodor, Miller, and
András Bimbó-Szuhai, but the Seahawks weren't able to close the a gap as UC-San Diego scored five straight late in the second half to extend their lead to 15-8 before scoring two of the final three games of the match in securing a 17-9.
The Seahawks will be back in the pool on Wednesday, October16, as the Green & White will square off against Iona at 7:00 pm in New Rochelle, NY.
