Lincroft, NJ - In the first cross country meet of the 2018 season for the Wagner College men's cross country squad, the Seahawks placed fourth at the 2018 Monmouth University XC Season Kickoff 6K run.

Junior Jonathan Besselink was the overall top finisher for the Green & White in the Junior/Senior 6K race, crossing the finish line in seventh place with a time of a 19:03.7. This marks the third straight season in which the product of Kingston, Ontario has placed among the top-10 at the meet.
Junior Robert
Guidicipetro, competing in his first event for Wagner, placed
14th, with a time of 5:14.6, rounding out Wagner's top-20 performances.

Other notable finishes from today's first meet of the season included upperclassmen include Junior
Nick Velez crossed the finish line in 20:47.9 while senior
Matthew Whalen finished with a time of 21:01.6.

Competing in his first cross country competition, freshman
Trausti Thorsteins captured first place honors in the Freshman/Sophomore 6k run, clocking in a time of 19:14.2. Classmate William
Cuthbertson also finished 15
th with a time of 20:15.17 rounding out the Seahawks top-20 performances in the race.Â

The Seahawks will be back in action on September 8 as they travel to Smithfield, RI for the Shawn
Nassaney Invitational, hosted by Bryant University.
