Los Angeles, CA – The Wagner women's water polo team, champions of the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC), will play the No. 1-ranked USC Trojans of the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (MPSF) in an NCAA Women's Water Polo Championship first-round matchup on Friday, May 11 at 12:00 pm (3:00 pm ET) in Los Angeles, CA.
 
The five-time defending MAAC Champions defeated UC San Diego 10-7 in Tuesday's play-in game for the second straight year. With the win on May 8, the women's water polo team joins the 2012 Seahawk football team (31-20 win over Colgate), the 2017 women's water polo team (6-5 win over UCSD), and most recently, the 2018 women's lacrosse team (13-9 win over Mercer on May 9) as the only Wagner squads to ever win an NCAA playoff game.
 
The trio of freshman utility Daisy Nankervis, junior attack Erica Hardy, and sophomore attack Jacqui Sjogren, delivered late, securing the final three goals for Wagner in the fifth and sixth periods, procuring the Green & White victory over the UCSD Tritons on Tuesday night.
 
The game featured balanced offensive scoring as four Seahawks contributed two goals apiece in Begg, redshirt sophomore utility Kristy Donkin, Watson, and Nankervis.
 
The eight-team bracket, consisting of Wagner, USC, UC Irvine, Stanford, Pacific, UCLA, California, and Michigan will be held in the Uytengsu Aquatics Center on the campus of host school USC with the winners to meet in the second round on May 12.
 
Wagner will bring a 25-6 record and a 17-game winning streak into Friday's contest while USC, who makes its 15th straight appearance in the NCAA tourney, boasts a 23-1 overall record, with its only loss of the season coming in a 3-9 loss against Stanford on February 25.
 
The Trojans defeated the Cardinal in a rematch between the teams to win the 2018 MPSF Tournament title, USC's fifth all-time.
 
The Green & White meet the Trojans for the first time in program history on Friday.
