Staten Island, NY – The Wagner College softball team earned a doubleheader sweep over Robert Morris on Senior Day, powered by two complete game wins by senior Morgan Brown in her final two games ever on Grymes Hill.

The Seahawks took game one by a score of 2-0, before earning an 8-2 victory in game two.

With the two victories, Wagner improves to 14-19 on the season and 4-9 in NEC play, while the Colonials fall to 10-32 on the year.

Prior to today's first pitch, the Green and White honored its senior class, Stefanie Aplin, Morgan Brown, Maddie Marable, and Maite Reece.

Game 1 – Wagner 2, Robert Morris 0

Brown's first win of the day was a complete game shutout, with the senior only allowing four hits, while striking out four batters.

In a low scoring pitcher's duel, the Seahawks took the lead in the bottom half of the sixth. Following a leadoff double by sophomore Kaila Smith and a bunt single by Reece, junior Jessica Carlucci moved both runners up with a sacrifice bunt.

Two batters later, sophomore Amelia Van Orman delivered a pinch hit, two-run single to right center field, giving the Seahawks a 2-0 lead.

Brown shut the door in the top of the seventh, as a flyout to left field sealed the victory.

Sophomore Hannah Lewis lead Wagner offensively with two hits, while Smith, Reece, and Van Orman also recording hits.

Game 2 – Wagner 8, Robert Morris 2

The second game of the afternoon featured a lot more offense than the first contest, as the Colonials took a 2-0 lead in the top of the first inning, before Wagner scored eight unanswered runs.

In the bottom of the first inning, a leadoff double by junior Karen Prihoda followed by an RBI single by Lewis cut the deficit in half at 2-1.

The Seahawks then broke the game wide open in the third, scoring four runs to take a 5-2 lead. After another base hit by Prihoda, Aplin tied the game on an RBI single two batters later. Two consecutive base hits by Smith and Reece loaded the bases, before back-to-back passed balls scored two runs. Next up, Marable singled to second base to pick up another RBI to close out the big inning.

The Seahawks scored two more runs in the fourth on RBI singles by sophomore Christina Harkins and Marable, before an RBI fielder's choice by Aplin in the fifth closed out the scoring.

Prihoda led Wagner with four hits in game two, while Lewis picked up three hits to finish 5-7 on the afternoon.

Brown once again did not give up an earned run, striking out seven batters in her second complete game of the day.

The Seahawks will close out the season tomorrow, as they take on Fairleigh Dickinson, starting at noon.
