Fairfield, CT – The Wagner women's lacrosse team will look to remain unbeaten in the Northeast Conference (NEC) and atop the league standings when the Seahawks travel to Sacred Heart on Sunday, April 22 in a 1:00 p.m. clash vs. the Pioneers.
Coming off the second-highest scoring game in program history, a 23-13 victory at LIU Brooklyn on Friday, the Green & White enter Sunday's play with an overall record of 9-4 and an NEC mark of 4-0, which ties Bryant for first place in the NEC. The Seahawks, who will host Bryant on Friday, April 27 in a pivotal matchup, are in the midst of a five-game win streak.
Sacred Heart, meanwhile, has an overall record of 2-12, including an NEC mark of 2-2. Last time out, the Pioneers dropped a 14-9 decision to Mount St. Mary's.
The Seahawks feature five players who have scored 30 or more points on the season, led by junior attack
Anna Belle Reilly (17g-22a-39 pts), followed by junior midfielder
Lauren Ednie (34g-3a-37 pts), and freshman midfielder and three-time NEC Rookie of the Week Ally Alligero (21g-14-35 pts).
Rounding out the top five Wagner scorers on the season are senior attack
Heidi Colford (26g-8-34 pts) and junior attack
Marjorie Dehm (26g-4a-30 pts), who is coming off a six-goal, one-assist effort in the win over LIU.
Ednie is the team leader in groundballs with 38, Alliegro tops the team with 36 draw controls while junior defender Maggie Courtney paces the Green & White in caused turnovers with 19.
In goal, senior
Lucy Darlington, who has started all 13 games between the pipes, boasts a .5-9 save percentage, which ranks No. 13 nationally, as well as a goals against average of 9.43.
