Brooklyn, NY – The Wagner women's lacrosse team, which shares first place in the Northeast Conference (NEC) standings, looks to continue its winning ways with a contest at LIU Brooklyn on Friday, April 20 with opening draw set for 7:00 p.m.
Last time out, senior attack
Heidi Colford tossed in a career-high six goals and dished out two assists in a thrilling 12-11 comeback win over Mount St. Mary's (4/14), a performance that earned her
Northeast Conference (NEC) Co-Women's Player of the Week honors, marking the seventh time this season that a Seahawk has copped a weekly honor from the league.
Led by Colford, a hard-shooting lefty who ranks No. 5 nationally with a 62 percent shooting percentage (24-of-30), the Seahawks are 8-4 overall, 3-0 in the NEC and winners of four straight games.
Within the game's first 11 minutes of the game vs. the Mount, the Eden Praire, MN native was already halfway to her double hat trick as her three early goals helped stake the Seahawks to a 5-0 lead. The Mount fought back and eventually opened a second-half lead before Colford struck for three straight goals as the Seahawks overcame a three-goal deficit in notching the win.
