Staten Island, NY – The Wagner College softball team earned its second straight doubleheader sweep on Wednesday afternoon, earning 3-2 and 10-5 wins over Rider, after winning both matchups against Saint Peter's yesterday.
In posting four straight wins over a pair of Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) foes, the Seahawks have won of six out of their last eight contests in improving to 12-19 on the season, while the Broncs fall to 8-22 on the year.
Game 1 – Wagner 3, Rider 2
Despite Wagner holding a 10-4 advantage in hits over the Broncs, game one was a tight, closely-contested game throughout. 
The Broncs took an early 1-0 lead in the first inning on a Keegan Zavodnik RBI single. The Seahawks answered in the bottom of the third with a two-run single to right field by senior 
Maite Reece, which scored sophomore 
Zoe Bender and junior 
Karen Prihoda, to give the Green and White a 2-1 advantage.
After Rider knotted the game at 2-2 in the top half of the sixth on a sacrifice fly by Rachael Zeides, the Seahawks took the lead once again in the bottom half of the frame.

Stefanie Aplin and sophomore 
Kaila Smith, junior 
Jessica Carlucci delivered the game-winning hit with an RBI single to center field, giving Wagner a 3-2 lead.
Senior 
Morgan Brown earned her fourth straight win in yet another complete game performance, striking out four batters, while only allowing four hits throughout the entirety of the game.
Prihoda, Carlucci, and sophomore 
Alyssa Tucker led Wagner with two hits each, while Reece came through with two RBIs in the contest.
Game 2 – Wagner 10, Rider 5
The Seahawk offense was clicking early on, scoring in each of the first five innings. Prihoda opened the scoring with an unearned run after a leadoff single, followed by an RBI single by Aplin that scored Bender to double the Wagner lead in the first.
Prihoda, a 2017 All-Northeast Conference (NEC) selection, continued her torrid afternoon at the plate with an RBI single in the second and a two-run double in the third, while Reece picked up her second two-run single of the day in the second inning.
Rider scored one run in each of the the third and fourth innings, but RBI singles in the fourth by Carlucci and sophomore 
Hannah Lewis extended the Seahawk lead to 9-2 after four innings of play.
The Broncs inched closer in the fifth, scoring three times, but an RBI double by Smith in the bottom half of the inning proved to be the last score of the game, as Wagner came away with the 10-5 win.
In the circle, freshman 
Arielle Koerber went the distance in earning her team-leading seventh win of the season, striking out six batters while allowing five earned runs on nine hits.
Prihoda led the offensive barrage with three RBIs on three hits, while senior 
Maddie Marable, Reece, Aplin, Smith, and Lewis all had multi-hit games as the Seahawks held a 15-10 advantage in hits.
The Seahawks return NEC play this weekend with a two-game set against league leader Saint Francis U on Saturday, with first pitch scheduled for 1:00 pm.
