No. 17 Women's Water Polo Kicks Off MAAC Conference Play This Weekend

Loudonville, NY – The Wagner women's water polo team travels to Loudonville, NY on Saturday, March 10-11 to open its Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) regular season slate. The No. 17 Seahawks are scheduled to play La Salle at 12:00 p.m., before taking on host school Siena College at 7:00 p.m. On Sunday, the Seahawks will face Virginia Military Institute (VMI) at 1:30 p.m.

The Seahawks will look to senior utility Kimberly Watson to lead the offense this weekend. Watson currently tops the NCAA in both goals and points with a wopping 49 goals and 74 points, while junior attack Erica Hardy ranks second in the NCAA leader board with 28 assists on the year.

La Salle enters MAAC play 0-4 on the year, with its most recent loss coming against Saint Francis U on February 18 as they fell 14-10 to the Red Flash. Despite the loss to SFU, the Explorers were led by Karle Linden and Jillian Delisle who each recorded hat tricks for La Salle.

Following the conclusion of the Wagner - La Salle matchup, the Green & White will face the host team, Siena College at 7:00 p.m. The Saints are 1-10 thus far with their only win coming in an 11-9 victory over Gannon University as Siena's Diana Fernandez led the offense, compiling a hat trick on February 11. This season, Siena has competed in the Bison Invite, the Laker invite, and the Harvard Invitational.

Virginia Military Institute enters Loudonville with a 7-2 record, with its only losses coming to Top 15 opponents last week in No. 13 Hartwick College and No. 10 Indiana University. The Keydets fell to the Hawks by a count of 16-9 before also suffering a 14-9 loss to the Hoosiers in the Indiana Classic on March 3-4.
