Stockton, CA – The Wagner College softball team continued its West Coast road trip on Sunday, falling to the University of the Pacific by a score of 7-3.
With the loss, the Seahawks are now 2-5 on the season, while the Tigers improve to 8-9 this year.
The Seahawks took the lead in the first inning, as junior
Karen Prihoda's leadoff single was followed by consecutive errors that allowed sophomore
Zoe Bender and junior
Lauren Serrato to reach safely. With the bases loaded, a walk to senior
Stefanie Aplin brought in Prihoda and gave Wagner the early advantage.
After the Tigers countered with a run in the bottom half of the inning, the Green and White once again took the lead in the second inning. After a leadoff walk to sophomore
Alyssa Tucker, Bender doubled to left to score the Seahawk shortstop and give Wagner a 2-1 lead. Next up, a Serrato single scored Bender to extend Wagner's lead to 3-1.
Pacific answered with three runs in the third and three in the fourth to take a 7-3 lead.
Serrato led Wagner with two hits, while Prihoda, Bender, and Aplin had one hit apiece.
Senior
Morgan Brown suffered the loss after throwing two innings, giving up three runs, while freshman
Arielle Koerber threw four innings in relief.
Wagner will be back in action on Tuesday, as the Seahawks remain in California for a doubleheader at Sacramento State, starting at 12:00 pm PT.
