Sacramento, CA – The Wagner College softball team continued its West Coast trip with two losses to Sacramento State University as the Seahawks fall to 2-7 on the year, while the Hornets improve to 6-7 this season.
Game 1 – Sacramento State 6, Wagner 0
The Seahawks threatened in the third inning of this afternoon's first contest, as junior 
Karen Prihoda singled to second and proceeded to steal both second and third, but was unable to come home on an inning-ending strikeout.
In the fourth, senior 
Stefanie Aplin doubled down the right field line and advanced to third on a wild pitch, giving Wagner another scoring opportunity, but the Seahawks were unable to capitalize.
The Hornets took a 1-0 lead in the second inning on a solo home run by Sydnee Strong and added two runs in the fourth and three more in the fifth to take the 6-0 victory.
Senior 
Morgan Brown suffered the loss in the circle after going the distance, giving up four earned runs on nine hits.
Game 2 – Sacramento State 5, Wagner 3
The Hornets took a 2-0 lead early on, scoring one run in each of the first and second innings. The Seahawks struck back, however, taking the lead in the fifth inning.
A leadoff double by freshman 
Kayla Conners and a walk to sophomore 
Alyssa Tucker was followed by a sacrifice bunt by sophomore 
Amelia Van Orman, setting the Green and White up with two runners in scoring position.
Two batters later, Prihoda doubled down the left field line, scoring both Conners and Tucker. Next up, a single by 
Zoe Bender advanced Prihoda to third, who scored on a fielding error by the Hornets to give Wagner a 3-2 lead.
Sacramento State answered with two runs in the fifth and one run in the sixth for the 5-3 win.
Five different Seahawks in Prihoda, Bender, junior 
Lauren Serrato, Aplin, and Conners had hits in the contest, while freshman 
Arielle Koerber was charged with the loss in the circle after giving up three earned runs over six innings.
Up next, the Seahawks travel to Stanford, CA, where the Green and White will take on CSU Bakersfield and Stanford University in a five-game tournament over the course of three days, starting this Friday, March 9.
