Box Score Game 1
Staten Island, NY – The Wagner College softball team fell to visiting LIU Brooklyn by a score of 7-6 in extra innings in its Northeast Conference (NEC) opener on Friday. Game two of today's doubleheader was suspended due to rain with the Seahawks leading 6-2 after 3.5 innings.
With today's loss, the Seahawks sit at 6-15, while the Blackbirds improve to 12-17.

Wagner got off to a hot start, as junior
Karen Prihoda put the Seahawks on the board with a leadoff home run to left center field.
The Blackbirds answered with one run in the top of the second inning, as an RBI single by senior
Stefanie Aplin and a two-run shot by sophomore
Kaila Smith made it 4-1 in favor of the Seahawks.
LIU used a big fifth inning to take a 6-5 lead, but Wagner answered back in the sixth on another RBI single by Aplin, which scored Prihoda to knot the game at 6-6.
Both teams failed to plate a run in the seventh, but the Blackbirds prevailed in extra innings, as an Angie Vasquez RBI double proved to be the difference. Senior
Morgan Brown suffered the loss in the circle, striking out three over eight innings.
The Green and White held a 12-11 advantage in the hit column, as Prihoda led the way with three RBIs on three hits, while Smith also registered three hits. Sophomore
Alyssa Tucker and Aplin had two hits apiece.
Wagner returns for more NEC action tomorrow, as the Seahawks take on Sacred Heart in another twinbill with game one set for 1:00 pm.
