Bronxville, NY – The Wagner men's tennis dropped its Friday afternoon contest again Division II member, Concordia (N.Y), 5-2, at the Meyers Tennis Center.
With the loss, the Seahawks fall to 6-6 on the season while the Clippers, who are posses a No. 1 regional ranking, improves to 8-3 on the year. Today's match was moved to the Meyers Tennis Center due to inclement weather on Staten Island.
The Clippers took two of three in doubles play. The Seahawk duo of sophomore
Dylan Walters and junior
Eric Poland was able to earn a 6-3 victory at No. 2 over the Concordia pairing of Axel Oljons and William Nilsson.
In singles action, Concordia jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the overall match after earning wins at No. 3, and No. 1, as Eymeric Chevalier, who is ranked No. 52 in the country, edged out Walters in three sets (2-6, 6-2, 6-3) at No. 1 play.
The Seahawks got on the board when junior
Anatoliy Lashkul earned a three-set victory over Alessandro Evangelisti (5-7, 6-2, 6-3) at No. 2. For Lashkul, the victory marked career win No. 26 as it also marked just the second career win at No. 2.
Senior
Charlton Boyd was able to get past his opponent, Michele Fenoaltea, 5-2, 5-0, in picking up the visitors second win in the contest. For the Shreveport, LA native, he earned career victory No. 67 in the process while also upping his career record at No. 6 to 18-5 and 9-1 this season.
Wagner is scheduled to resume Northeast Conference (NEC) on Sunday, April 1, as the Seahawks welcome Saint Francis U to the Wagner Tennis Courts for a 12:00 p.m. conference tilt.
