Riverdale, NY – After earning a split against Quinnipiac on Saturday, the Wagner College softball team dropped a pair of games to Manhattan on Sunday afternoon. The Seahawks lost the first game by a score of 2-0, before falling 4-1 in game two.

With the losses, Wagner now stands at 5-13 on the year, while the Jaspers improve to 12-9.

Game 1: Manhattan 2, Wagner 0

Both teams tallied six hits in the contest, as sophomore Zoe Bender was the only Seahawk to register two hits, while juniors Karen Prihoda and Jessica Carlucci, sophomore Kaila Smith, and senior Maddie Marable also registered hits.

The Jaspers scored on an RBI single by Kat Prevo in the third and doubled their lead in the fifth on a fielder's choice to take a 2-0 lead.

Senior Morgan Brown struck out five batters over six innings, but was charged with the loss, as the Seahawks could not make up the deficit.

Game 2: Manhattan 4, Wagner 1

After Manhattan took a 1-0 lead in the second and scored two runs in the fifth, Wagner scored its lone run of the afternoon in the sixth inning.

After a Carlucci single, an RBI double by Smith two batters later put the Seahawks on the board and cut the deficit to 3-1.

The Jaspers, however, answered with one run in the bottom half of the sixth and shut the door late to earn the sweep.

First-year Seahawk Arielle Koerber suffered the loss in the circle, throwing 5.1 innings and striking out two batters, while junior Ciera Luna took over late and threw 0.2 innings in relief.

Next up, Wagner travels to Philadelphia, PA on Tuesday for a doubleheader against Drexel, with first pitch set for 2:00 pm.
