Staten Island, NY – Chris Aslanian and Ryan Archer combined for five goals and seven assists to lead Hobart to an 11-5 victory over Wagner in the Northeast Conference (NEC) opener for both teams on Saturday afternoon at Hameline Field.

With the loss, the Seahawks fall to 2-5 on the season, 0-1 in the NEC while the Statesmen improve to 3-4 and 1-0 in league play.

The teams were tied after one quarter of play with the Wagner goals coming from senior attackman Andrew Streilein and senior midfielder Joe Lomeli, before Hobart closed the half on a 3-0 run in building a 5-2 lead at the break.

Junior attackman John Norton blasted home an unassisted score just 2:06 into the third quarter to draw the Seahawks to within two goals at 5-3. This would be as close as Wagner would get the rest of the way, however, as the Statesmen converted two late third-quarter goals to make it a 7-3 game en route to their 11-5 win.

Norton (2g, 0a), Streilein (1g, 1a) and Lomeli (1g, 1a) paced the Seahawks with two points apiece while senior midfielder JP Pawela added an assist. Defensively, the Seahawks were paced by senior Andrew Park, who collected four ground balls and came up with three caused turnovers, and junior Kevin Doherty who had four ground balls and two caused turnovers.

Archer led Hobart with seven points on two goals and five assists while Aslanian added five points, on the strength of three goals and two assists. Justin Scott added three goals for the Statesmen while Eric Holden chipped in with two goals and two assists.

Hobart held the edge in shots (40-31), ground balls (41-21) and faceoffs (16-of-20) with Matthew Pedicine taking all 20 faceoffs for Hobart.

In goal, Sam Lucchesi had 10 saves in earning the win for the Statesmen while Sefcik kept Wagner in the game by stopping 15 shots for the Seahawks.

Wagner faces a quick turnaround as the Seahawks will host Hampton on Monday, March 19 at 1:00 p.m. in a game that was moved up from Tuesday due to inclement weather in the forecast.
