Loudonville, NY – The 17th-ranked Wagner women's water polo team picked up its third win of the weekend to kick off Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) play in style, as the Seahawks edged Virginia Military Institute (VMI) 8-6 on Sunday afternoon.
The Green and White advances to 11-6 overall and 3-0 in MAAC conference play with the victory and sits atop of the conference standings alongside rival No. 23 Marist.
Wagner played an even first quarter against the Keydets, as the the score was tied 3-3 after the first eight minutes of play. Freshman utility Daisy Nankervis notched two goals for the Seahawks, while redshirt sophomore Kristy Donkin added another.

Elise Begg dished out an assist to junior attack
Erica Hardy who found the back of the net and tallied the only Wagner goal of the second quarter, as VMI took a 5-4 lead heading into halftime,.

Kimberly Watson rallied off two goals in the third period, the first of which came off an assist by sophomore attack
Jacqui Sjogren. The score was knotted at 6-6 entering the fourth and final quarter.
Donkin and Begg each fired off one goal apiece and the Seahawk defense he held tough, holding the Keydets scoreless in the final period, helping Wagner emerge victorious with an 8-6 final score.
The Seahawks are back in action on March 24-25, as they head to New Rochelle, NY to take on three MAAC foes in St. Francis Brooklyn, No. 23 Marist, and Iona.
