Stony Brook, NY – The Wagner baseball team completed a doubleheader sweep of Stony Brook on Sunday, defeating the Seawolves, 6-2 in a game that was suspended from Saturday due to darkness.

The Seahawks (5-8), who led 6-2 with one out in the top of the seventh and final inning when play was suspended, have now won two straight after earning a 14-6 victory in game one of Saturday's doubleheader.

On the mound, junior RHP Eric Ligda (2-1) hurled six strong innings in game two, allowing just two earned runs, scattering five hits and striking out four without walking a single batter. LHP Keaton Freire pitched a scoreless seventh, allowing a hit and striking out one.

Sophomore designated hitter Freddy Sabido continued to thrive on the diamond, going 2-for-4 with a double, a home run and and five RBIs. Senior LF Anthony Godino, along with juniors Phil Capra and Anthony Pecora, each had one hit with Godino and Capra scoring two runs. Capra and junior 3B Will Johnson were credited with one RBI apiece.

Wagner opened up game two in similar fashion to Saturday's opener, scoring three runs in the top half of the first. The big blast in the frame came off the bat of Sabido as with two outs and facing a full count, Sabido connected on his third home run of the season in giving the visitors a 3-0 edge. Following a scoreless second, Sabido struck again as he drove in his fourth run of the contest and eighth of the day, as he sent a RBI double to right center giving the Seahawks 4-0 lead.

Stony Brook got on the board in the bottom of inning as Wilson sent a sacrifice fly to center, bringing in John Tuccillo as the home team cut the deficit to three, 4-1. The Seawolves furthered their comeback attempt with a solo home run off the bat of Palazzolo in the bottom of the fifth, trimming the lead in half at 4-2.

Wagner put the game away with three runs in the top of the seventh as Godino doubled to left field before Sabido was credited with his fifth RBI of the day on fielding error by the Seawolves pitcher allowing Godino to score. Johnson reached on a fielder's choice that plated Capra as the Seahawks completed the twinbill sweep of Stony Brook.
