Flushing, NY – The Wagner College men's tennis team dropped 6-1 decision to Big East members, St. John's, on Friday morning at the National Tennis Center in Flushing, NY.
With the setback, the Seahawks fall to 3-2 on the season while the Red Storm improve to 2-3.
The Green & White was able to secure a victory in doubles action. In No. 1 play, the duo of juniors
Anatoliy Lashkul and
Dale Sandy defeated Alan Aguilera and Andrei Crapcenco, 6-3. With the victory, Lashkul and Sandy improve to 6-2 on the season when paired together. The six wins are second most by a Wagner pair, behind seniors
Charlton Boyd and
Allen Wang, who are a perfect 10-0.
In singles action, Wagner was able to muster out a triumph in No. 6 play as Boyd defeated Alex Roszkowski, 6-3, 6-3 in running his season record to 13-2 while remaining undefeated in dual match play at a perfect 5-0. For the Shreveport, LA native, the victory marked the 61st of his four-year Wagner career.
The Seahawks continue its lengthy road trip as they will head to Easton, PA to tangle with Patriot League members, the Lafayette College Leopards on Saturday, February 10. The match is slated to begin at 2:00 p.m.
