Easton, PA – The Wagner men's tennis team returned to its winning ways on Saturday afternoon, blanking the Lafayette College Leopards, 7-0, at the Northwood Racquet Club.

With the victory, the Seahawks snapped their two-game losing skid, and move to 4-2 on the season while the Leopards drop to .500 at 2-2 for the season.

"I am very proud of the way the guys performed this afternoon," commented first-year head coach Shem Filipek. "After dropping a pair of matches to both Princeton & St. John's, our guys went out there today and responded to the task at hand."

The Seahawks set the tone early, sweeping through doubles play with the first point of the contest. Juniors Anatoliy Lashkul and Dale Sandy earned a gritty, 6-4 victory at No. 1 play over the tandem of Blake Oslan and Mason Keel.  With the victory, the duo improved to 7-2 on the season and 2-1 out of the No. 1 doubles spot.

The pairing of junior Eric Poland and second-year Seahawk, Dylan Walters, secured the second victory as they bested Brandt Baldwin and Matthew DeBenedetto, 6-3. The team of Ilya Kneppelhout and senior Charlton Boyd proved to pay dividends as they earned a 6-1 victory over Chris Kim and John Yurconic. It marked the first victory of the season as a pair and the moves to 34-13 in their run as teammates.

In singles action, Wagner was able to take all six matches. Lashkul earned his 24th singles win as he got past Oslan, 7-6 (7-1), 6-1 at No. 1 singles. Walters picked up his 19th career singles win with a 6-2; 6-3 winner against Yurconic.

At No. 3 play, Sandy was victorious over Daniel Kramer, 6-4; 6-1 in giving Wagner the match at 4-0. Kneppelhout ran his season record back to .500 (6-6) and garnered his 29th career singles win with a 6-3; 6-3 decision over Baldwin at No. 4 play.

Rounding the wins for Wagner was Poland at No. 5, getting past DeBenedetto, 6-0; 7-5, for his 11th victory of the season and 37th of his Seahawk career. Lastly, Boyd was able to defeat Keel, 8-2, in posting his program-leading 14th win of the campaign while running his career total to 62-23.

The Green & White will have a few days in to prepare for its next opponent on February 16 as they travel to Flushing, NY to tangle with the Queens College Knights for a 12:00 p.m. opening serve.
