Bronx, NY – The Wagner men's water polo team (17-14) was edged by George Washington in the semifinal round of the Mid-Atlantic Water Polo Conference (MAWPC) Tournament Saturday with a final score of 16-14.
Despite a six goal effort by sophomore driver and First Team All-Conference selection,
Jasmin Kolasinac, the Green & White were unable to surpass the Colonials on Saturday evening.
Fellow sophomore lefty,
Jack Leighton contributed a career high four goals in the loss. Second Team All-Conference member junior utility
Lachlan Trabinger had a solid performance, drawing eight exclusions for Wagner.
The semifinal matchup was even throughout, as the first period ended in a stalemate at 4-4.
The Colonials were able to hold a one-goal advantage at the end of the first half, with a 7-6 lead over the Seahawks at the halfway mark.

Teo Dadic each notched one goal apiece in the third, however, George Washington still held an 11-9 lead at the end of the third stanza.
Wagner came within one, however, GW fired off three consecutive goals to extend its lead. Despite a hard fought game, time ran out and George Washington prevailed 16-14 over the Seahawks, advancing to the MAWPC championship game.
The Colonials will face Bucknell in the final beginning at 1:30 p.m.
Wagner will compete against Fordham at 12:00 p.m. for third place.
