18th-Ranked Men's Water Polo Hosts Iona On Wednesday Night

Staten Island, NY - The Wagner men's water polo team (7-6; 3-1 MAWPC) is set to continue Mid-Atlantic Water Polo Conference play as it hosts Iona College on Wednesday night at the Spiro Sports Center at 7:00 p.m.

This past weekend, the Green & White fell to No. 15 Bucknell on Saturday before defeating La Salle University on Sunday.

Against the Bison, the first quarter included back and forth offensive efforts from both teams, resulting in a 4-4 stalemate. Kolasinac added his second goal of the game as senior utility Devin O'Donnell and senior driver Cole Grady each contributed one goal apiece at the end of the first.

During the second stanza, Bucknell began to take the lead, with back to back goals before Kolasinac found his third goal, securing a hat trick and cutting the Bison lead to 1 at 6-5. However, Bucknell added three additional goals to gain a 9-5 lead at the conclusion of the first half.

The Bison added to their lead with four more goals before sophomore lefty Jack Leighton notched his first goal of the game. Bulajic and Kolasinac added one additional goal each, as Wagner was down 14-8 heading into the fourth and final period before the Green & White fell by a final score of 18-9.

In a matchup against the La Salle Explorers, 11 players registered goals for Wagner, four of which scored four a piece in freshman utility Vuk Bulajic, sophomore driver Jasmin Kolasinac, senior driver Teo Dadic and sophomore driver Jordi Alonso.

Sophomore 2M András Bimbó-Szuhai tallied a hat trick in the win, while junior driver Aaron Leighton, junior driver Matthew Miller, junior utility Lachlan Trabinger, sophomore lefty Jack Leighton and junior driver Oscar Nomura each found the back of the net one time, respectively.

Iona (4-15; 0-4) recently competed in Claremont, CA at the Gary Troyer Tournament on October 5-6 as they went 1-3 on the weekend, beating the Caltech Beavers with a final count of 19-11.
