Men's Water Polo Downs Johns Hopkins 17-7

Staten Island, NY -  The Wagner men's water polo team (13-12; 6-2 MAWPC) downed the Blue Jays of Johns Hopkins 17-7 on Saturday afternoon.

The Green & White jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the first eight minutes of play on goals from senior utility Devin O'Donnell and sophomore lefty Jack Leighton.

It was not long before sophomore driver Jasmin Kolasinac netted his first two goals of the game, doubling the Seahawks' lead to 4-0.

The Blue Jays got on the board with just 18 seconds remaining to make it 4-1 at the of the first period.

Freshman utility Vuk Bulajic found the back of the net to open the second quarter, capitalizing on a man up opportunity for a 5-1 Seahawk advantage. Kolasinac and O'Donnell then capped the Seahawk run with three goals, as Kolasinac registered his third and fourth goal, respectively.

Johns Hopkins scored its second goal of the game with 1:30 left in the first half before junior driver Matthew Miller and Kolasinac made it 10-2 entering into the third period.

The Blue Jays opened up the second half with an early goal, which was then answered by O'Donnell, setting the score at 11-3.

Josh Kurtz of Hopkins found the back of the net to bring the Blue Jays one goal closer. Kolasinac then secured a double hat trick, scoring his sixth goal of the game.

Entering the final quarter with a 12-5 lead, junior utility Lachlan Trabinger scored his first goal of the game to open the final eight minutes, with Kolasinac adding his final two goals of the contest shortly after to finish with eight scores on the day.

Miller scored another giving the Green & White a 16-5 lead with 2:35 left in the game. Emerson Sullivan gave the Blue Jays their sixth goal of the match with 1:40 on the clock.

Sophomore András Bimbó-Szuhai registered his first goal to cap the Seahawks' scoring efforts on the afternoon. Hopkins snuck one more goal past Woldt but it would not be enough, as the Seahawks emerged victorious with a final count of 17-7.

Woldt posted a strong defensive performance in the cage with 10 saves.

Wagner is back in action on Sunday, October 28 as they take on the La Salle Explorers on senior day.
