2018 Northeast Conference (NEC) Women's Championship Headquarters
Smithfield, RI - The Wagner College men's and women's cross country programs will look to close out the fall with their second trip to Rhode Island, as they will compete at the 2018 Northeast Conference (NEC) Cross Country Championships.
This year's meet is hosted by Bryant University, with the men's 8K race kicking off at 11:00 a.m. followed by the women's championship 5K run, beginning at noon.Â

2018 Men's Championship Race:
The Green and White will look to improve on last year's sixth-place finish as they vie for the program's first league title. The Seahawks are led by freshman
Trausti Thorsteins, a four-time NEC Men's Cross Country Rookie of the Week selection. On the year, the Icelandic native has been the top finisher for the Green & White in four of the five meets this season, which included a first place finish at last Saturday's Monmouth Tune-Up.
Wagner will also look to third-year harrier,
Jonathan Besselink, who placed second at last Saturday's meet, earning him a spot on the weekly NEC Prime Performer list. For Besselink, he will look to improve on last season's top-25 run, in which he crossed the finish line in 27:19.5. The Green & White will be counting on upperclassmen
Nick Velez and
Matthew Whalen.
2018 Women's Championship Race
The women's team will look to improve from last year's ninth-place finish at the NEC Championships. As a whole, the Seahawks will be looking for its third NEC title and first since 1993 when the program won clinched the second of back-to-back titles.
The lady harriers have finished in second-place in back-to-back meets, most recently at the Monmouth University Tune-Up.Â
Wagner will look to Staten Island native, junior
Sara Carney, who will be competing in her third NEC Championship and enters the race as the Seahawks' top-finisher in two of the five regular season meets. SophomoreÂ
Vivian Liell will look to improve on last year's top-30 time of 19:27.6, in which she was named to the All-NEC Rookie Team.Â

Wagner will also be counting on juniors

Allison Santorelli, and
Ashley Ducharme along with second-year runner,
Jordan Sorilla.
