Princeton, NJ – The Wagner men's water polo team is set to compete in its second tournament of the 2017 season, as they participate at the Princeton Invite September 9-10. The Green & White will challenge Mid-Atlantic Water Polo Conference (MAWPC) rival Navy at 8:45 am on Saturday before taking on Chapman University and Brown University on Sunday at 8:45 am and 3:45 pm, respectively.

Rematch With Navy:
After suffering a 13-7 loss to Navy in its first ever meeting on September 25, 2016, the inaugural Seahawk squad notched two victories over the Midshipmen on October 2 and November 20.

In Wagner's first 15-13 triumph, the Seahawks were led by senior utility Ciaran Wolohan (Manly, Australia/St. Aloysius College/Golden West College) and junior utility Devin O'Donnell (Pointe-Claire, Quebec/Selwyn/San Diego Mesa College) who combined for seven of Wagner's 15 goals.

The rubber match between the two teams was an exciting matchup, as both were competing to finish fifth at the MAWPC Championship. It was a fast-paced, back-and-forth tilt, with three tallies scored in the first minute alone. After taking a 5-3 lead in the first stanza, sophomore driver Matthew Miller (San Ramon, CA / California High) and Navy's David Huber went to battle in the second quarter. However, Miller fired three goals to Huber's two, bringing his total to four on the day.

Leading by four at intermission, the Midshipmen outscored the Green & White 8-7 in the second half. However, the Seahawks early lead was enough to defeat Navy 16-13 to finish their inaugural season in fifth place at the MAWPC Championship.

The Blue & Gold enter the weekend with a 5-3 record, notching notable victories over Cal Lutheran and Iona College at the Navy Open September 2-3. However, they suffered two early conference losses to George Washington as the Colonials defeated the Midshipmen in back-to-back matchups.

First Meeting With Chapman:
West Coast opponent, Chapman University, travels across the country for a seven-game stint, starting Friday in Princeton, NJ. Entering the weekend with identical 1-3 marks, Chapman and Wagner will have their first-ever meeting on Sunday, September 10 at 8:45 am. The Panthers will look to senior center Jeff O'Brien to lead the team offensively. O'Brien led the program with 59 goals in 2016, but has been held to just three goals thus far in 2017.

Previewing Brown:
Despite attending the 2017 Brown Bruno Classic, Wagner has not challenged Brown since the program's first ever game on September 3, 2016. In dropping a 14-5 decision against the 13th ranked Bears, sophomore utility Devin O'Donnell tallied four of the Seahawks' five markers.

The Bears arrive in Princeton, NJ with a three-game losing streak after winning three in a row on the first day of the Bruno Classic in victories over McKendree, St. Francis Brooklyn, and Cal Baptist. In spite of losing three in a row, the Bears enter the weekend ranked No. 14 in the Men's Varsity Top 20 Poll.

Seahawks On The Rise:
The Green & White will look to freshman driver Jasmin Kolasinac (Belgrade, Serbia / King's College) who was named Mid-Atlantic Water Polo Conference Rookie of the Week after his performance at the Bruno Classic. The rookie reached the back of the net 13 times over the course of four games while registering two hat tricks, four assists, seven steals, and nine drawn exclusions. His best performance came when he tallied six goals in Wagner's 15-10 feat over MIT, tying sophomore driver Oscar Nomura (Irvine, CA / Irvine) for the most goals scored in a single game.

Defensively, the Seahawks will rely on junior goalie Cameron Woldt (San Diego, CA / Serra High School [San Diego Mesa College]) who earned himself a spot on the Defensive Player of the Week Honor Roll after collecting 37 blocks over the weekend. Notably, the transfer netminder recorded two ten-save performances in contests with No. 5 University of the Pacific and MIT.

In the Polls:
After registering a 1-3 mark at the Brown Bruno Classic, the Wagner College men's water polo program received votes in the most recent Collegiate Water Polo Association's (CWPA) Men's Varsity Top 20 Poll. The Green & White will look to break into the top 20 with its upcoming matches at the Princeton Invite.
