Providence, RI – The Wagner College men's water polo team earned its first victory of the 2017 season with a 15-10 triumph over Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). With the victory, the Green & White are now 1-3 on the season after falling to No. 10 Harvard 14-9 in the weekend finale of the Brown Bruno Classic.

After a heartbreaking 14-13 loss to MIT at the 2016 Bruno Classic, the second-year men's water polo program breezed past MIT in the second meeting between the two squads. Three Seahawks registered hat tricks throughout the contest as the Green & White defeated the Engineers by a count of 15-10.
Freshman driver
Jasmin Kolasinac (Belgrade, Serbia / King's College) opened the match-up with back-to-back tallies to give the Seahawks an early 2-0 lead. The rookie would go on to score four more times throughout the contest, tying sophomore driver
Oscar Nomura (Irvine, CA / Irvine) for the most goals scored in a single game (6). Nomura previously tallied six markers in a 13-11 home loss to eventual 2016 Mid-Atlantic Water Polo Conference (MAWPC) Champions, Bucknell on October 1, 2016.
The Engineers ended the opening stanza with a 3-0 run, ignited by freshman Evan Kim as the Green & White trailed 3-2 at the buzzer.
Junior goalie
Cameron Woldt (San Diego, CA / Serra High School [San Diego Mesa College]), who recorded ten saves throughout the tilt, held MIT's offense scoreless in the second quarter as the Seahawks fired three consecutive goals. Two of the three tallies came from Kolasinac with Nomura reaching the back of the cage on the third one.
Coming out of intermission with a 5-3 advantage, the third quarter was a back-and-forth battle. However, Wagner outscored the Maroon & Black 6-4 behind two goals apiece from senior utility
Ciaran Wolohan (Manly, Australia / St. Aloysius College [Golden West College]), sophomore driver
Matthew Miller (San Ramon, CA / California High), and Kolasinac.
The Green & White were able to hold off the Engineers in the final eight minutes, outscoring its opponent 4-3. Wolohan and Miller each completed hat tricks, while junior transfer
Teo Dadic (Dubrovnik, Croatia / Gimnazija Dubrovnik [Long Beach City College]) added his first tally of the day.

Jasmin Kolasinac led the Seahawks with four goals and four steals as the second-year program fell 14-9 in their weekend finale. Kolasinac scored the lone tally in the opening stanza as No. 10 Harvard took an early 5-1 lead.
