Men's Water Polo

Seahawks Begin Conference Season Against No. 23 George Washington, Johns Hopkins, and No. 25 Navy

Washington, DC– The Wagner men's water polo team will travel to our nation's capital weekend this weekend as play begins in the Mid-Atlantic Water Polo Conference of the Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA). 

The Seahawks will begin the weekend on Saturday at No. 25 George Washington (2:00 p.m.) before traveling to Baltimore, MD with match time set for 7:00 p.m. against Johns Hopkins. The final weekend game will take place on Sunday (10:00 a.m.) at Navy in Annapolis, MD.

The Green & White look to continue their four game win-streak and capture their eighth victory of the 2017 campaign.  Last time out, Wagner defeated Iona on September 20 (by a count of 12-9. Freshman driver Jasmin Kolasinac (Belgrade,Serbia / King's College) led the way with a double hat trick, while junior goalkeeper Cameron Woldt (San Diego, CA / Serra High School [San Diego Mesa College]) recorded 10 saves. 

Junior driver Teo Dadic (Dubrovnik, Croatia / Gimnazija Dubrovnik [Long Beach City College]) and Woldt earned Player and Defensive Player of the Week honors, respectively with their impressive showings, helping the Seahawks emerge victorious in their last four showings. 

Woldt currently ranks second in the Mid-Atlantic Water Polo Conference with 85 saves on the year.  Dadic has contributed to the team success, registering 17 goals and 20 assists thus far.

The Seahawks square off in the first of two matches on Saturday, September 30 pm. The Colonials (7-6) were edged by Fordham in their most recent contest and fell to No. 16 Bucknell 12-9 in the previous match.

Following the matchup against George Washington, Wagner heads to the Natatorium inside the Newton White Athletic Center against Division III Johns Hopkins University. The Blue Jays (8-4) are coming into Saturday night's contest looking to snap a two-game losing streak after falling to Bucknell and Fordham last Saturday.

On Sunday, October 1, the Green & White travel to Annapolis MD to compete against No. 25 Navy (5-8), a team Wagner defeated, 11-10, back on September 9. The Midshipmen have suffered losses in their last six games, three coming vs. ranked opponents.
