Providence, RI – The Wagner men's water polo team suffered two losses to nationally ranked programs No. 16 California Baptist University and No. 5 Pacific University on the opening day of the Bruno Classic. After losing 13-6 to CBU, the Green & White fell 22-6 to the Tigers in the evening finale.

Wagner 6, CBU 13 (Scoresheet)
The Green & White outscored the Lancers 3-2 in the opening quarter as five members of the 2017 Seahawk squad netted goals throughout the first contest of the season. Despite an early 2-0 deficit, senior captain Ciaran Wolohan (Manly, Australia / St. Aloysius College [Golden West University] ignited a 3-0 run for the Seahawks with less than four minutes remaining in the stanza. The duo of junior drivers Teo Dadic (Dubrovnik, Croatia / Gimnazija Dubrovnik [Long Beach City College]) and James Grady (Boca Raton, FL / Boca Raton) ended the run in exciting fashion as Grady's goal came with just one second remaining on the clock.

The Lancers regained a 7-4 lead in the second quarter, outscoring Wagner 5-1. Sophomore driver Matthew Miller (San Ramon, CA / California High) netted the Green & White's lone marker on a power play opportunity coming out of a timeout called by Head Coach Chris Radmonovich.

Cal Baptist goalie Matt Miller held the Seahawks scoreless in the third quarter as the Lancers extended its lead by two tallies.

Entering the final eight minutes trailing 9-4, freshman driver Jasmin Kolasinac (Belgrade, Serbia / Kings College) fired the first two goals of his collegiate career as the Green & White fell 13-6 to No. 16 CBU. In addition to his two markers, Kolasinac added three steals and four exclusions drawn on the day.

Defensively, the Seahawks tallied 15 steals, while junior transfer Cameron Woldt (San Diego, CA / Serra High School [San Diego Mesa College]) registered eight blocks and four steals in his first Division I contest.

Wagner 6, Pacific 22 (Scoresheet)
Despite a season-high 11 saves by junior goalie Cameron Woldt, the second-year Wagner men's water polo program suffered a 22-6 loss to the fifth-ranked Pacific Tigers.
After being held scoreless in the opening stanza, junior driver Matthew Miller put the Seahawks on the board with 6:44 remaining in the first half. Freshman driver Jasmin Kolasinac netted another goal before intermission as Wagner trailed 11-2.

After another scoreless eight minutes, the Seahawks tallied four markers in the final quarter. Wagner's highest scorer in its inaugural season, senior utility Ciaran Wolohan rattled the cage for his second goal on the day on a man-up opportunity less than one minute into the stanza. Sophomore driver Matthew Miller sandwiched two goals around 2016 All-MAWPC Second Team selection Oscar Nomura's (Irvine, CA / Irvine) first tally of the season.

The Green & White wrap up the 2017 Bruno Classic with two match-ups on Sunday, September 3 against Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) at 10:30 am and Harvard University at 3:00 pm. Wagner will look to reverse a 14-13 loss that the program suffered to the Engineers in Providence in 2016.
