Women’s Lacrosse Begins Defense Of NEC Crown With Home Games vs. Saint Francis U and Robert Morris

Staten Island, NY – After completing a demanding 10-game non-conference schedule, the Wagner women's lacrosse team begins its defense of the Northeast Conference (NEC) championship today when the Seahawks open their league slate vs. the Saint Francis U Red Flash in a 3:00 p.m. start today.
 
Following today's contest, Wagner, under the direction of second-year head coach Katie Rowan, will play host to the 6-4 Robert Morris University Colonials on Sunday, April 9 in a 3:00 p.m. tilt.

The 2-8 Seahawks entered the 2016 league schedule with a 2-7 mark before posting a 7-1 NEC record en route to claiming the league title with a victory at Bryant in the title game. The first-ever NEC title in program history sent the Green & White to their first-ever NCAA Championship appearance. SFU enters today's conference opener with a record of 5-4.

The Seahawks are led offensively by sophomore attacker Anna Belle Reilly (Paradise Valley, AZ / Notre Dame Prep), who has tallied a team-best 30 points on 21 goals and nine assists. The 21 goals are also a team high while her nine assists rank third on the team.
 
Junior attacker Heidi Colford (Eden Praire, MN / Eden Praire) checks in with 26 points (14g, 12a), followed by junior midfielder Lauren Ednie (Verona, NJ / Verona), who is Wagner's third-leading scorer with 24 points (18g, 6a). Sophomore midfielder Marjorie Dehm (Baldwinsville, NY / C.W. Baker / Vermont) is at 23 points (19 g, 4a), while senior attacker Olivia Streilein (Mt. Laurel, NJ / Lenape) has contributed 21 points (11g, 10a).
 
Senior co-captain Amanda Rey (Turnserville, NJ / Washington Township) heads the Seahawk defense as the two-time All-NEC performer and the team-leader in groundballs (33), draw controls (21) and caused turnovers (18). Juniors Kelsey Fee (White Plains, NY / White Plains / Ithaca) and Lucy Darlington (Timonium, MD / Notre Dame Preparatory) split time in goal for the Seahawks.
