Stony Brook, NY - The Wagner men's tennis team dropped a 5-2 decision to America East members, Stony Brook, on Wednesday afternoon.

With the loss, the Seahawks fall to 10-7 on the season while the Seawolves improve to 5-4.

"Our guys competed very well this afternoon against a tough Stony Brook squad," commented second-year head coach Jason Sinkoff. "We are the third Northeast Conference (NEC) school that Stony Brook scheduled this season and the only program this season to win points against them, so I am proud of the effort that we exhibited."

Stony Brook took both doubles matches in securing the first point of the day. No. 3 doubles that featured junior Charlton Boyd (Shreveport, LA/Loyola College Prep) and sophomore Ilya Kneppelhout (Woubrugge, Netherlands / Scala College Secondary School) taking on Hari Rohan/Finn Kemper went unfinished with Rohan Kemper leading 5-4.

The Seahawks were able to rattle off back-to-back victories in No. 4 & No. 5 singles action. Freshman Dylan Walters (Johannesburg, South Africa / St Stithians Boys' College) bested Tyler Hoffman, 6-3; 6-3 in earning his seventh victory of the year while sophomore Eric Poland (Fort Meyers, FL/Bishop Verot) earned singles win No. 22 as he defeated Rohan, 6-1; 6-3, in picking up his 11th triumph of the season.

The Green & White will play their final three regular season matches on Grymes Hill, beginning on Friday, April 8 as they take on Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) members, the University of Delaware.

Following the Delaware match, the Seahawks welcome the Fairleigh Dickinson University Knights in the final NEC regular season contest before closing out the year against Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) member, Niagara.
