With the two losses, the Seahawks fall to 18-23 on the season and 8-6 in conference play, while the Red Flash improves to 45-9 overall and finishes the regular season with an undefeated 16-0 conference record.
The Green & White will now play a pivotal doubleheader, with NEC Tournament implications, at Robert Morris on Monday in a makeup of Saturday's postponement. Tomorrow's game one begins at 10:00 a.m. with game two slated for approximately noon.
Game 1 Recap – Saint Francis U 14, Wagner 2
Wagner got seven hits in the contest, led by sophomore
Karen Prihoda (Hamilton Square, NJ / The Lawrenceville School) and senior
Brianna Tredway (Downingtown, PA / Downingtown West), who each collected two base hits, while freshmen
Amelia Van Orman (Orange, CA / Lutheran High School of Orange County) and
Alyssa Tucker (Laguna Niguel, CA / Santa Margarita Catholic), along with sophomore
Lauren Serrato (Litchfield Park, AZ / Verrado High School) also had hits for the Green and White.
The Seahawks took an early 1-0 lead in the first inning. After Prihoda led off the game with a single, a groundout by junior
Stefanie Aplin (Nesconset, NY / Smithtown East / Georgian Court University) two batters later advanced her to second base, before an RBI single by Tredway put the Green and White on the board.
The Red Flash answered with five runs in the bottom half of the first inning, powered by a three-run home run by Adrian Smith.
Wagner answered back in the third inning. Prihoda once again singled to get the Seahawks started, before a fielder's choice by freshman
Zoe Bender (Glen Rock, NJ / Glen Rock) and a single by Tredway gave Wagner a runner on third with two outs. Next up, Tredway was caught stealing second base, but allowed Bender just enough time to cross the plate and give Wagner a run on the bases to end the inning.
Saint Francis U put the game away in the bottom of the third, scoring eight runs on six hits to take a 13-2 lead, before adding one more run in the fourth for the 14-2 victory.
Junior
Morgan Brown (Buckeye, AZ / Verrado) was charged with the loss, falling to 9-7 on the season after pitching three innings, while Van Orman came on to pitch two innings in relief, allowing one run on two hits.
Game 2 Recap – Saint Francis U 1, Wagner 0
The second game of the afternoon featured a pitching duel, as senior
McKaleigh Goodale (Bradenton, FL / Lakewood Ranch) and SFU's Ketarah DeVries gave up a combined four hits throughout the game.
Aplin had the lone hit for Wagner in the top of the first and moved into scoring position on a wild pitch, but an ensuing popup ended the early threat.
The Red Flash got on the board in the fourth inning on a Jordan Seneca home run and shut out the Seahawks the rest of the way to complete its undefeated regular season.
Goodale was charged with the hard-luck loss after allowing just three hits and one walk in her six-inning stint.
