Women’s Lacrosse Kicks Off Weekend Home Swing With NEC Tilt vs. Sacred Heart On Friday

WATCH / LIVE STATS

Staten Island, NY –
The defending Northeast Conference (NEC) Champion Wagner women's lacrosse team will continue its pursuit of an appearance in next month's four-team league tournament with a pair of home games this weekend, beginning with a home test vs. Sacred Heart on Friday at 3:00 p.m.

After dropping a pair of one-goal games to open NEC play, the Seahawks reversed their fortune last Friday by winning a one-goal decision as Wagner earned a 9-8 overtime victory at Mount St. Mary's.

For the year, the Green & White are 3-10 overall and 1-2 in NEC play while Sacred Heart enters Friday's contest at 4-8 on the season and 2-1 in conference.

Following the matchup with the Pioneers, the Seahawks will host LIU Brooklyn in an 11:00 a.m. Senior Day matchup with the Blackbirds. Prior to the game, Wagner will honors its three seniors – defender Amanda Rey (Turnersville, NJ / Washington Townshjp), along with attackers Olivia Streilein (Mt. Laurel, NJ / Lenape) and Nicole Luzzi (Branford, C / Branford) - in a pregame ceremony.

Wagner has a hot goalie in junior Kelsey Fee (White Plains, NY / White Plains / Ithaca), who was named the Northeast Conference (NEC) Defensive Player of the Week following a 14-save effort in the Wagner's OT win at the Mount.

The Seahawks are led in scoring by junior attacker Heidi Colford (Eden Praire, MN / Eden Praire) who has 41 points on 21 goals and a team-leading 21 assists, to go with 24 draw controls and 16 groundballs.

Sophomore Anna Belle Reilly (Paradise Valley, AZ / Notre Dame Prep) is second on the team in scoring with 36 points (25g, 11a), followed by junior midfielder Lauren Ednie (Verona, NJ / Verona) with 32 points (25g, 7a), sophomore midfielder Marjorie Dehm (Baldwinsville, NY / C.W. Baker / Vermont) at 30 points (26g, 4a) while Strelein checks in with 25 points (13g, 12a).

Rey, a two-time All-NEC selections, paces the Seahawks in groundballs (39), draw controls (26) and caused turnovers (24).
