Game 2 Recap – Wagner 1, Sacred Heart 0
Goodale's gem gave the Seahawks the win in what was a defensive struggle, as both teams combined for just four hits. The senior finished the day with three strikeouts while giving up no walks.
The Seahawks mustered just two hits but Goodale and the Wagner defense made a first-inning run hold up. Sophomore
Karen Prihoda (Hamilton Square, NJ / The Lawrenceville School) led off the frame with a walk and moved into scoring position on a steal before advancing to third on an illegal pitch. After a walk to junior
Stefanie Aplin (Nesconset, NY / Smithtown East / Georgian Court University), senior
Brianna Tredway (Downingtown, PA / Downingtown West) put the ball in play and brought in Prihoda from third.
Goodale was perfect through three innings before the Pioneers entered the hit column on a single by Lauren Delgadillo to lead off the fourth inning. Sacred Heart did not get another base runner until Victoria D'Addario singled with two outs in the seventh, but Goodale induced a groundout to end the game and preserve the victory.
Aplin had Wagner's second hit in the contest, as both teams finished with two hits and one error apiece.
Game 1 Recap – Sacred Heart 4, Wagner 2
The first game of the afternoon was another low-scoring contest, as neither team got on the board until the fourth inning, when the Pioneers took a 2-0 lead on a bases loaded walk and an RBI single.
The Seahawks rallied and were rewarded in the sixth inning in tying the game at 2-2. Freshman
Zoe Bender (Glen Rock, NJ / Glen Rock) and Aplin walked, before a Tredway single scored Bender and moved the tying run to third. Next up, freshman
Kaila Smith (Millville, NJ / Millville) flied out to left field to bring home pinch runner
Hannah Lewis (Perry Hall, MD / Perry Hall).
The Pioneers answered right back, scoring two runs in the bottom half of the inning which proved to be enough to pull out the victory.
Junior
Morgan Brown (Buckeye, AZ / Verrado) suffered the loss after going the distance, striking out five and giving up two earned runs.
Tredway was the only Wagner player with a multi-hit on the day, going 2-3 with an RBI in game one, while Bender and freshman
Kat Holmes-Stall (Trabuco Canyon, CA / Santa Margarita Catholic) also had base hits for the Green and White.
Wagner will be back in action on Tuesday, April 18, as the Seahawks welcome Drexel University for a two-game series, starting at 2:00 pm.
