Brooklyn, NY – Senior
Brianna Tredway's (Downingtown, PA / Downingtown West) RBI single with one out in the top of the seventh inning gave the Wagner College softball team a 2-1 victory in game two of this afternoon's doubleheader at LIU Brooklyn.
The Seahawks earned a split with the 11-time Northeast Conference (NEC) champions, after falling in game one, 8-0. The Green & White sit at 14-19 and 5-3 in Northeast Conference (NEC) play while the Blackbirds are now 17-26 and 3-5 in league action.
Game 2 Recap – Wagner 2, LIU Brooklyn 1
The Seahawks got on the board in the third inning in taking a 1-0 lead. Sophomore
Karen Prihoda (Hamilton Square, NJ / The Lawrenceville School) doubled to left center before freshman
Zoe Bender (Glen Rock, NJ / Glen Rock) advanced her to third on a groundout. Junior
Stefanie Aplin (Nesconset, NY / Smithtown East / Georgian Court University) put Wagner ahead, 1-0, on an RBI single to left field.
The Blackbirds tied the game with an RBI single by Kayla Gloady in the fifth inning, but the Green and White responded in the top of the seventh to retake the lead for good.
Prihoda led off the inning with her second double of the contest and was moved into scoring position once again by Bender. After a walk to Aplin, Tredway connected for her third hit of the game, this one proving to be the game-winner, as Prihoda scored in giving Wagner a 2-1 lead.
Senior
McKaleigh Goodale (Bradenton, FL / Lakewood Ranch) picked up her third win of the season, allowing just one run on six hits, which included recording three straight groundouts to shut the door in the bottom of the seventh. Goodale finished with a season-high seven strikeouts, a feat she last accomplished on April 12, 2015, against Sacred Heart.
The Seahawks finished the game with ten hits, as Tredway led the way with three, while Prihoda and freshman
Kaila Smith (Millville, NJ / Millville) each had two, while Bender, Aplin, and freshman
Kat Holmes-Stall all had one base hit.

Hana Gilbert (Valley Center, CA / Valley Center), and sophomore
Lauren Serrato (Litchfield Park, AZ / Verrado High School) each had a hit for the Seahawks in game one.
Following two scoreless frames, the Blackbirds raced out to 2-0 lead after runs in the third and fourth and put the game away with six in the fifth in securing the 8-0 victory.
Junior
Morgan Brown (Buckeye, AZ / Verrado) suffered the loss in the circle lasting 4.1 innings.
The Blackbirds combined for 10 hits in the contest, as Erynn Sobieski earned the victory.
Wagner will be back in action tomorrow, taking on the Sacred Heart Pioneers, starting at 1:00 pm.
