Staten Island, NY - The Wagner College baseball team walked off in dramatic fashion in earning a 6-5 game one victory over Atlantic 10 members, St. Bonaventure, on Friday afternoon at the Richmond County Bank Ballpark at St. George.
Friday's contest was the first-ever meeting between the schools as the Seahawks improved to 9-17 on the season while the Bonnies fell to 14-13.

Phil Capra (North Salem, NY/North Salem) went 3-for-4 while matching a career-high four RBIs, which included the game-winner in the bottom of the ninth.

Anthony Godino (Thornwood, NY/Pleasantville) and 2B
Kyle Brey (Middletown, NJ/Middletown South) each had two hits in the first game of the twin bill, while combining to score five of the Seahawks' six runs.

Danny Marsh (Monroe Township, NJ/Monroe Township) lasted 5.1 innings, allowing six hits, and three runs, two of which earned, while walking two and striking out one in taking the no-decision. Freshman RHP
Chris Mormile (Wildwood, NJ/Wildwood) came on in relief of Marsh, tossing 2.2 innings in giving up two earned and walking four. Sophomore RHP
Douglas Molnar (Toms River, NJ/Toms River North) threw a scoreless ninth as he earned his first victory of the season (1-2).
St. Bonaventure got on the board first in the top of the second. With two outs, TJ Baker ripped a RBI single to centerfield, scoring David Hollins from second. Wagner responded in the bottom half of the frame as Capra led off with a triple to right-center field and was brought in when sophomore 3B
Anthony Pecora (Mamaroneck, NY/Mamaroneck) lofted a sacrifice fly to right.
The Seahawks tacked on two more runs in the bottom of the third in taking a 3-1 lead. With one out, Brey singled to center while Mazzio followed with a base-hit to right, in giving the Green & White runners on first and second. After Godino beat out an infield single, Capra belted an 0-2 pitch to right, plating Mazzio and Brey.
After a scoreless fourth and fifth frame, the Bonnies knotted the game at 3-3 in the sixth. Hollins reached on an error by the Seahawks' shortstop. Taishi Terashima and Baker recorded back-to-back singles in loading the bases. Mormile came in and plunked Tommy LaCongo on a 0-1 fastball, which scored Hollins. Jared Baldinelli reached on a fielder's choice as LaCongo was out at second on a diving stop by Mazzio.
Wagner got one back in the bottom of the inning. Godino led off with a single to center. Capra reached on a fielding error by the Bonnies' right fielder, as Godino raced into third, giving the Seahawks runners on the corners and no outs. Junior RF
Kyle Cala (Brick, NJ/Brick Memorial) ripped a frozen rope to second, plating Godino as Wagner went ahead 4-3.
St. Bonaventure tied the game at 4-4 in the top of the seventh. Cole Peterson walked and then moved to third after consecutive steals of second and third. David Vaccaro brought him in on a sacrifice fly to right.
In the bottom of the stanza, Wagner regained the lead at 5-4. Freshman
Freddy Sabido (Staten Island, NY/Susan E. Wagner [Saint Louis Univ]) walked on four pitches, as the home team now had runners on first and second. Godino was hit with an errant pitch that loaded the bases. Donovan Moffat came on in relief of starter Aaron Phillips. Moffat walked in the go-ahead run after Capra endured a lengthy eight-pitch sequence which brought in Mazzio. Roman Wild came on for Moffat and got Cala to ground out to third to end the threat.
The visitors tied the game at 5-5 in the top of the eighth when Baker drew a leadoff walk and moved to second after LaCongo placed a sacrifice bunt that was fielded by Seahawks' 1B, senior
Brad Currao (Howell, NJ/St. Rose). Baldinelli connected on his second RBI of the contest, sending Mormile's pitch into right.
In the ninth, the Seahawks brought in Molnar to replace Mormile. After giving up a single to the left side from Phillips, Molnar was able to retire Hollins on a sacrifice bunt attempt and retiring Terashima and Baker on fly-outs ending the frame.
In the bottom of the ninth, Danny Urban came in for SBU. He proceeded to load the bases after a walk to Mazzio and back-to-back hit-by-pitches to Sabido and Godino, setting the scene for Capra.
St. Bonaventure brought the infield in and their right fielder as an extra infielder. Capra took the first pitch from Urban for a ball. On the ensuing delivery, the second-year Seahawk ripped the game-winner passed the diving second baseman as Mazzio scored the winning run in giving Wagner its third straight win.
