Jacksonville, FL – Danielle Della Rocca scored five goals and Courtney Valdez added four as Jacksonville jumped out to an 8-0 lead en route to posting an 18-8 victory over Wagner this afternoon at D.B. Milne Field.
The loss gives the Seahawks a split of their two-game Spring Break trip to Florida as it comes on the heels of Thursday's 17-12 win at Stetson. The defeat snaps Wagner's two-game winning streak as the Seahawks fall to 2-6 on the season while the Dolphins improve to 3-4.
Junior midfielder
Lauren Ednie (Verona, NJ / Verona) scored two goals for the Green & White while six other Seahawks tallied one goal apiece.
In addition to Ednie, the Wagner goal-scorers included senior attacker
Olivia Streilein (Mt. Laurel, NJ / Lenape), junior midfielder
April Simmons (Branford, CT / Branford), junior attacker
Heidi Colford (Eden Praire, MN / Eden Praire), sophomore attackers
Anna Belle Reilly (Paradise Valley, AZ/ Notre Dame Prep), and
Marjorie Dehm (Baldwinsville, NY / C.W. Baker / Vermont), and freshman attacker
Talia Bouzakis (Mullica Hill, NJ / Clearview).
Ednie added an assist to finish with a team-high three points while Reilly and Streilein recorded one assist each, in addition to their one goal apiece, in registering two points on the day, respectively.
Sophomore
Lucy Darlington (Timonium, MD / Notre Dame Preparatory) gained the start in goal and played the entire first half before junior
Kelsey Fee (White Plains, NY / White Plains) came on to play the game's final 30 minutes.
The Seahawks are next in action on Saturday, March 25 when Wagner travels to Saint Joseph's to meet the Hawks in a 1:00 p.m. start in Philadelphia, PA.
