Deland, FL – Fresh off their first victory of the season, the Wagner women's lacrosse team is in sunny Florida for spring break, set to play its first of two games in the Sunshine State as the Seahawks meet the Stetson University Hatters in a 6:00 p.m. draw.
On Monday, the defending Northeast Conference (NEC) champion Seahawks ran past Saint Mary's (CA) by a 16-13 count behind a four-goal outing by sophomore midfielder
Marjorie Dehm (Baldwinsville, NY / C.W. Baker / Vermont).
The Green & White enter tonight's play with a record of 1-5 while Stetson is still in search of its first win as the Hatters are 0-6 on the season.
The Seahawks are led offensively by sophomore attacker
Anna Belle Reilly (Paradise Valley, AZ / Notre Dame Prep) and junior midfielder
Lauren Ednie (Verona, NJ / Verona), each of whom has scored 15 points as each has scored 12 goals and assisted on three others.
Dehm and junior attacker
Heidi Colford (Eden Praire, MN / Eden Praire) are tied for third in scoring with 13 points apiece with Dehm's coming on 10 goals and three assists and the powerful, left-handed Colford's 15 points coming via eight goals and five assists.
Ednie is the team-leader in draw controls with 14 while sophomore defender junior co-captain and two-time All-NEC performer,
Amanda Rey (Turnserville, NJ / Washington Township), is the team leader in both groundballs (18) and caused turnovers (13).
Juniors
Kelsey Fee (White Plains, NY / White Plains/Ithaca College) and
Lucy Darlington (Timonium, MD / Notre Dame Preparatory) have shared the goalkeeping responsibilities for the Green & White with Darlington coming off the win over Saint Mary's (CA).
Wagner will conclude its two-game Florida mini tour with a contest at Jacksonville on Saturday, March 18. Opening draw between the Seahawks and the Dolphins is set for 1:00 p.m.
