Staten Island, NY – The Wagner women's lacrosse team will host the Saint Mary's (CA) College Gaels on Monday, March 13 in a Noon matchup at Hameline Field.
The defending Northeast Conference (NEC) champion Seahawks, who have lost 10 players from the title team to graduation, are looking for their first win of the season, entering play with an 0-5 mark, while SMC comes in at 1-4.
For Saint Mary's, the matchup with Wagner will conclude a compressed three-game, four-day East Coast weekend swing that has seen the Gaels play at Central Connecticut of the NEC on Friday (L, 21-12) and at Manhattan on Sunday (L,16-3).
The Seahawks are led offensively by sophomore attacker
Anna Belle Reilly (Paradise Valley, AZ / Notre Dame Prep) and junior midfielder
Lauren Ednie (Verona, NJ / Verona), each of whom has scored 11 points. Reilly's 11 points have come on 10 goals and one assist while Ednie has converted nine goals with two assists. Junior attacker
Heidi Colford (Eden Praire, MN / Eden Praire) is the third Seahawk in double-digit scoring as she has totaled 10 points on seven goals and three assists.
Ednie is the team-leader in draw controls with 14 while sophomore defender
Madeline Courtney (Columbia, MD / Marriots Ridge) paces the Seahawks in caused turnovers with eight. Senior co-captain
Amanda Rey (Turnersville, NJ / Washington Township, NJ) paces the team in groundballs with 14/ Juniors
Kelsey Fee (White Plains, NY / White Plains/Ithaca College) and
Lucy Darlington (Timonium, MD / Notre Dame Preparatory) split time in goal for the Green & White.
